Since joining Adventist Health International in 2003, Ranchi Adventist Hospital (RAH) in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India, has developed a US$85,000 renovation project.
After learning that RAH was $20,000 from reaching its stated fundraising goal, Adventist Health System/West executives and board members quickly raised those funds to assist the hospital.
"Collectively working with small amounts, we can make a huge difference on projects in developing countries," says Larry Dodds, senior vice president of Adventist Health System/West.
Mr. Dodds serves as a board member for Adventist Health International (AHI) and recently became aware of the needs at Ranchi. After learning of the goal to build and remodel its emergency room and intensive care unit, Mr. Dodds suggested that gifts be gathered to help support RAH.
As a result, Adventist Health System/West appealed to its hospital executives and board members to make contributions to the Ranchi building project. Together the group gave more than $20,000.
Adventist Health System/West, headquartered in Roseville, California, operates health care facilities throughout California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington. The system includes 20 hospitals with more than 3,100 beds, 19,000 employees, numerous clinics and outpatient facilities, 16 home care agencies and three joint-venture retirement centers.
Adventist Health System/West is one of seven entities that collaborates together as Adventist Health International. Other partners include the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Loma Linda University Adventist Health Sciences Center, Adventist Development and Relief Agency, Adventist Healthcare, Inc., Adventist Health System/Sunbelt, and Kettering Adventist Healthcare Network.
Adventist Health System/West's donation of $20,000 translates into more than 920,000 Indian rupees. With the addition of their financial support, RAH's 3.9 million rupee renovation project reached its fundraising goal and the hospital will be able to finish its building projects.
