Shanksteps #101

Oh what a vacation that was. We went to the re-entry program at Andrews University to drop off Sarah who was staying in the US for school. Fifteen years old came quickly. And we were all not quite ready. There she met a missionary girl coming back from the Philippines and they got along real well. Next we visited parents in WV and in CT. Audrey went off to a conference in California for women missionaries on furlough. Women of Harvest was a real blessing to her. After meeting with the returning missionary family we found out that their daughter was going to Upper Columbia Academy near Spokane, WA. So we went out and looked at that school.

As a last special thing before Sarah went off to school we went on a cruise to Alaska. This was our first cruise ever and we enjoyed ourselves and the beautiful Alaskan scenery. Then our time was spent visiting friends and family some more. After much prayer, we felt that Sarah should go to Upper Columbia Academy. We dropped her off at school and settled her in a week before we left.

Yesterday we left WV and after 3 flights we arrived here in Ndjamena , Chad, tonight. It is 11PM and my body thinks it’s 5PM. The trip was uneventful except for customs here. Five out of our six luggage arrived. Though we are only in transit through Chad they wanted to look in all of our bags…after much heated discussion (they saw 5 large luggage with medical supplies in them), they let us go through with our luggage, without opening them. Praise God. Opening them ALWAYS causes more troubles and a desire on their part for more pocket money. We thank God for his continued protection over us and our luggage. And pray that the other piece arrives in a couple days. As we are now apart from Sarah (our daughter) please pray for her and that she will draw closer to God at school and do well in all she does. Pray for Audrey and I as we go on with daily activities without the joy she brings to our house.

In His Service, Greg
